Outside the Classroom

Through the Business Administration Department, business and computer information systems majors enjoy many opportunities and resources that enhance their college experience.

Advising

Professors in the Business Administration Department are actively involved in their advisees’ academic and extracurricular activities. Advisors meet regularly with their students to review course choices and progress towards their degree. Despite the fact that business is one of the largest majors, professors and advisors know their students by name, not by number. Their interest and concern for the students is not limited to the classroom. Professors regularly attend sporting events, theater productions, concerts and other campus activities.

Business Club

The Castleton Business Club is a student-run organization open to all members of the student body. It serves both the college and local community by providing members with the opportunity to strengthen their business skills, practically apply techniques learned in the classroom, increase the capacity to network, and improve the overall quality of their education.

Computer Information Systems (CIS) Club

The CIS Club is an emerging student-run organization open to all members of the student body. It serves both the College and local community by providing members with the opportunity to discuss and explore new trends in CIS.

Sigma Beta Delta Honor Society

Sigma Beta Delta, the international honor society in business, management and administration, was established to encourage and promote personal and professional improvement and a life distinguished by honorable service to mankind.

Induction into Sigma Beta Delta is by invitation only and is limited to undergraduate juniors and seniors and graduate students who rank in the upper 20% of their class at the time of invitation.

Study Abroad

Castleton offers many opportunities to study abroad. For business students interested in doing so, the Business Administration Department can work with you before you leave to ensure the courses you take abroad will transfer back to Castleton and be counted towards your degree requirements.

Annual Events for Business & CIS Students

The Business Administration Department is involved in putting on several events for business students each year. Examples include workshops on resumes, cover letters and interviewing skills, career fairs in the fall and spring, an etiquette dinner, various guest speakers and a graduation reception.
