The unique atmosphere Castleton offers its students was one of the many reason alumni Brett Lertola chose to stay close to campus after graduation.
“From the professors and the president knowing your name, to the football games and all of the clubs, or the lifelong friends you will make throughout your experience, the atmosphere at Castleton is something that you can't experience anywhere else,” said Lertola.
After receiving his diploma in Mathematics and obtaining his secondary-education teaching license, Lertola enrolled in Castleton’s Master of Arts Education program specializing in Math.
Putting his degree to good use, Lertola is currently working as a high school math teacher at Rutland High School in Rutland, VT. He said it was the elaborate Math and Education departments and the professors in both concentrations that helped him excel as a student and now as an educator.
“I knew that the quality of education at Castleton is top-notch, and being able to get to know your professors and peers on a personal level is something that is not available at larger universities,” he said.
