On October 28th, 2017 students from the Castleton Spartan Athletic Band will be in all pink to support Rutland Hospital and Castleton’s Pink The Rink fundraiser. Students will entertain crowds in Rutland’s annual Halloween Parade leading a float designed by the Rutland Hospital. Pink The Rink will be January 26, 2018 at the Spartan Arena in Rutland.
After being selected to participate in the International Conductors Exchange Program (ICEP) through the American Choral Directors Association in early 2017, Castleton Music Department Chair Sherrill Blodget recently returned to campus motivated and inspired after her abroad visit.Read More
On October 21, 2017 Castleton University’s Athletic Bands welcomed 70 music students from Vermont to perform in a joint halftime performance. The third annual Band Day was full of clinics, games, and giveaways. The joint ensemble entertained crowds at Spartan Stadium as the group of over 100 performers marched, danced, and played during halftime to wow fans. Information on 2018’s Band Day will be available shortly!
On July 23rd, 2018 Castleton will host marching music’s major league as Drum Corps International hosts their first ever Vermont tour stop. Five competing ensembles from all over the United States and Canada will perform in a one night event. Castleton has hosted Drum Corps International Boston Crusaders for the past three summers and is excited to now offer Vermont residents the opportunity to see these ensembles in performance. Castleton University will be home to choir singers, teachers and conductors from across northern New England and beyond as participants come together for the Gather at the River Choral Festival running from June 22-23. The two-day conference offers a variety of opportunities to sing in reading sessions, chamber choirs, and the conference choir, as well as interest sessions, and a keynote speaker.Read More

Creating a cultural exchange of music, Castleton Music Department Chair Sherrill Blodget was recently selected to participate in the International Conductors Exchange Program (ICEP) through the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA). Serving as a Conducting Fellow for 2017, Blodget will not only host a fellow conductor from another country at Castleton, but will in exchange take her musical talents abroad for an extended residency.Read More
The Castleton University Chorale and Chamber Singers recently blended together the power of music and inclusivity as they performed their December winter concert, titled the Universal Language of Song, celebrating the many nationalities of the Castleton community. The concert included pieces in ten different languages from nearly a dozen countries including Syria, China, Latvia, Mexico, Cuba, Israel, Canada, South Africa, Nigeria, Spain and the United States.Read More
Twelve Castleton University students took their passion for singing from the Green Mountain State to the Midwest as they recently attended the American Choral Directors Association National Conference in Minneapolis, MN. In addition to learning from some of the top professionals in the field, four Castleton students were selected to sing as part of the National Collegiate Unity Honor Choir, side by side with other students from across the country as part of the conference.Read More
