What is Orientation?
Your transition to Castleton started with summer Registration. The process continues at Orientation. Our goal is to give you the information and skills you need to be successful, both inside and outside of the classroom.
Do I have to go to Orientation?
What will happen at Orientation?
At Orientation, you will hear from campus leaders, learn about critical policies and procedures, be introduced to useful services, and meet friendly, helpful people.
What about Soundings?
As a new student, you are enrolled in a required course called Soundings: An Introduction to the Liberal Arts. During Orientation, you will meet the Soundings instructors and learn about the fall Soundings offerings as well as Soundings policies and procedures.
Are SOS Leaders involved with Orientation?
Absolutely! If you are a First-Year student, you will be working closely with members of the Student Orientation Staff during Orientation. The job of your SOS is to answer your questions and help you feel ready for the start of the semester.
Will I have time to buy books and meet new people?
Possibly. There is limited free time, but plenty of time for fun built into Orientation. The Castleton Store will be open Thursday and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm and on Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm.
