Operation Bundle Up: Coats for Kids
Operation Bundle Up was started in 2008 by Darlene McMahon & Heather Olsen. With the help of the community, Operation Bundle Up quickly became a huge success. They have been able to help children and their families throughout Rutland County for the last 6 years.
They accept all sizes (newborn to adult XXXL) and we ask that they be in either new or gently used condition. Boots and snow pants are always in extremely high demand as well.
While you are home for Thanksgiving is the perfect time to look through your closet for your gently used boots, snow pants, and coats to pass on to those in need. The Student Government Association will be equipped to collect them both in the Campus Center and at the President's House on Giving Tuesday.
The Castleton University Student Government Association is proud to sponsor the student clubs and organizations contest in conjunction with #GivingTuesday. The groups are challenging each other to see which group can best showcase the giving spirit on campus. Each group will receive points for donating and volunteering throughout the day. At the end of the day, the points will be tabulated and the clubs will receive monetary rewards towards their budget for finishing among the top three on campus!
The Point System:
- 4 Points – Donation of winter outerwear (coats, snowpants, boots)
- 3 Points – One hour of volunteering at Gift of Life Marathon or Clothing & Food Drive
- 2 Points – Donation of food items, or winter accessories (hats, mittens, gloves)
- 1 Point – Public social media post with hashtag #IGaveGreen
