Castleton University works with all members of our community to ensure an encouraging and supportive living and learning environment for people of all gender identities, expressions, and romantic and sexual orientations.
In 2017, the University recognized that housing assignments based on gender alone may not be appropriate for all students and developed gender-inclusive housing options.
Castleton has several clubs that focus on increasing awareness and education around LGBTQ+ acceptance, including Spectrum Pride, an all-inclusive student-led club that helps with gender-inclusive housing, residence life training for community advisors, and broadly assists with policy and procedure.
Castleton regularly hosts events and programs to encourage critical thinking about sexuality and gender.
The University is also home to a Women’s and Gender Studies minor.
