What to Bring with You

Wondering what you need to bring with you to Castleton University? Each room is furnished with an extra-long twin bed frame and mattress, a desk, a chair, a closet or wardrobe, and curtains or shades. Suite-style residence halls are equipped with lounge furniture including a couch, coffee table, and more.   

Here is a list of items that other students have found useful. While this list isn’t all-encompassing, it’s a good place to start. Be sure to check with your roommate to see what they’re bringing, too!  

You Should Bring … 

  • Bedsheets/blankets/comforter (extra-long twin) 
  • Mattress pad

  • Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, medicines)

  • Pets other than Fish (10-gallon tank maximum) 
  • Halogen lamps 
  • LED Strip Lights
  • Candles and incense
  • Electric tabletop grills
  • Toasters
  • Toaster ovens
  • Air conditioners
  • Space heaters
  • Extension cords 

*Microwaves and Refrigerators 

Only one refrigerator less than 4.4 cubic foot is allowed in each room. Microwaves are not allowed in Babcock Hall, Ellis Hall, or Hoff Hall. We provide one on each floor. For all other residence halls, only one microwave is allowed in each suite and are prohibited in individual rooms. Each residence hall has a kitchen with a microwave, refrigerator, and stove.
