As of March 1, 2022, all HEERF III funds at Castleton University that had been assigned to be disbursed directly to students have been disbursed. This collection of awarding included both new and returning students in the spring semester as well as a population of international students who had been awarded in the fall but were unable to receive a physical check sent. New students were awarded based on the criteria outlined in the fall 2021 semester.

As funds were increasingly limited, the criteria for awarding returning students looked at both financial need as demonstrated in the FAFSA as well as how much Federal funding a student had already received. In the spring term, $355,266 was awarded to a total of 342 Castleton University students. The breakdown of awards is noted below:

These funds were sent directly to students and were not to be applied against their student account. Undergraduate students were awarded based on need as demonstrated by the FAFSA while graduate students were awarded based on part-time/full-time status – the breakdown of categories is below. This award totaled $2,156,750 out of the $2,697,016 that Castleton University was given to disburse to students. Given the $185,000 that was distributed in the summer, there is now $355,266 remaining that will be disbursed to students in the Spring 2022 semester.
