- Award on “exceptional need” first.

Castleton University Awarding Policy
August 4, 2021 – Awarded HEERF III Grant to students enrolled in 2021 Summer term.
Summer HEERF III awarding policy
- Created and eligibility list of all matriculated students registered in the 2021 summer term. List includes undergraduate students and graduate students.
- Award $500 HEERF III grant – Not considered as Estimated Financial Assistance toward the COA. Awarded as a block grant. Disbursement will go directly to the student either by direct deposit or mailed check.
- Summer students are needy as they usually have to use loans that reduce the amount available for the next academic year. If the student is Pell eligible the amount is not enough to cover summer costs. Taking summer coursework reduces the amount of time students have to work during the summer which reduces available money for tuition and living expenses.
- Students can use the money as they see fit to help with the cost of continuing their education during the summer.
Total awarded to Castleton students for the 2021 summer term:
A total of 370 students were awarded
- 125 Graduate students x $500 = $ 62,500
- 245 Undergraduate students x $500 = $122,500
Total Awarded = $185,000 on 8/5/21
An email letter was sent to each student who received an award to notify them of their grant.
Balance of Castleton University HEERFIII Grant for Academic year 2021-2022 awards is $2,512,016.
