While Castleton University has transitioned to an online delivery model for current students in response to COVID-19, the Admissions Office has developed an innovative way to reach future Spartans.
The University has a variety of upcoming virtual admissions events, which provide special programming for prospective students. When Castleton announced on March 12 that all scheduled events would be suspended for the next month, the Admissions Office began to develop a virtual Accepted Students Day for students and their parents using Zoom, software that provides remote video conferencing, online meetings, and group messaging.
“We are here and able to serve our prospective students through this amazing technology,” said Maurice Ouimet, dean of enrollment at Castleton. “It is the next best thing to visiting in person.”
The virtual events provide an overview of Castleton University and its programming, a session for parents, and information regarding the next steps for students to commit to Castleton in advance of National College Decision Day on May 1.
“In time, we hope that students will be able to return to the traditional campus meetings and tours, but this allows everyone to interact with us and get their questions answered in real-time. Many high school students are already home doing their school work remotely, so they have been excited to learn that they can engage with us in this way,” Ouimet said.
Prospective students and their parents can also explore the Castleton University campus from anywhere through a virtual tour, which provides an inside look into the University’s athletics facilities, classrooms, labs, dining hall, dorms, and more.
In addition to Accepted Students Days, Castleton will also be offering virtual opportunities for group information sessions, Killington information sessions and experience days, and more.
