March is Women’s History Month, and Castleton University is celebrating with a variety of events, including stories, lectures, workshops, and more to commemorate and encourage the study, observance, and celebration of the vital role of women in history.
Castleton has proudly recognized the influence of women during Women’s History Month since 1988. The University’s hallmark Women’s History Month event, Every Woman Has a Story, has transitioned to a virtual format due to COVID-19 and will take place on Zoom every Wednesday at noon. Over the course of five weeks, a mix of ten Castleton Women, including students, faculty, and staff, will share their personal stories in a 15-minute presentation. This year, Castleton will welcome three prominent graduates for a special alumnae edition of Every Woman Has a Story on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 p.m.
The Women’s History Month Committee is also raising funds for the Lucy Langdon Williams Wilson Scholarship. Established in 2017, it is awarded to students who have shown an academic interest in understanding the nature of women’s lives and experiences, and gender as it relates to differences in power and social change. You can make a gift to the scholarship in honor of Women’s History Month.
