The Castleton University Men's Ice Hockey team is partnering with Rutland Regional Medical Center to raise money and awareness for mental health services. The first-of-its-kind contest is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 11 against UMass Boston.
"The team wanted to do something to give back to the community," said Castleton's Men's Ice Hockey Head Coach Kyle Richards. "We are excited to partner with Rutland Regional Medical Center to raise awareness and support for mental health services, and we're hopeful the event will have the same impact and success as the Castleton Women's Hockey team's annual Pink the Rink event."
The Spartans are the first men's hockey program in the nation to host an event of this magnitude, with one-of-a-kind jerseys being auctioned off to fans with all proceeds benefitting RRMC. All proceeds from ticket sales at the game will also be donated in support of mental health services at RRMC. You can bid on the jerseys here.
Fans will have the opportunity to purchase commemorative Breaking the Ice on Mental Health t-shirts at the event, and the first 200 fans will receive a custom towel courtesy of Foley Services. The cost of admission is $7 for adults, $4 for seniors. and $2 for students.
