The Vermont State Colleges Board of Trustees recently honored Castleton Director of Choral Activities and Music Department Chair Sherrill Blodget as the VSC Faculty Fellow for the 2018-19 academic year. The fellowship award recognizes tenured faculty who demonstrate outstanding accomplishments in teaching and learning.
“I am extremely honored to have received the VSC Faculty Fellow Award. As the VSC Faculty Fellow, I am exploring projects that will enrich my knowledge of the choral repertoire from Latin America and create opportunities to bring more of this rich repertoire to students and local audiences,” she said.
Blodget joined the Castleton community in 2008. In her role, she directs the University Chorale and Castleton Chamber Singers, teaches voice, conducting and global music, and is vocal director for musical theater productions.
Blodget’s research has focused on choral music of Latin America. She has led student choirs to Cuba and the America-Cantat 8 Music of the Americas Conference in the Bahamas, as well as completing a residency at the University of the Republic in Montevideo, Uruguay as a selected participant in the International Conductors Exchange Program.
In recognition of her accomplishment, Blodget will present at the Vermont State Colleges Faculty Fellow Celebration.
