No matter the circumstances, fans of Castleton University athletics rally to support the Spartans. Throughout COVID-19, things have been no different.
With the return of hockey on the horizon, the Spartan faithful banded together to fill the stands of Spartan Arena in a way that was COVID compliant—with cardboard cutouts. Prior to the Castleton women's hockey home-opener on Friday, nearly 100 fans have submitted their photos and made a donation to the University to secure their spot in the stands to support their team.
"We're very excited to be able to offer this opportunity to our fans," said Castleton Associate Dean for Athletics and Recreation Deanna Tyson. "The Spartan community has continually showed up for our student-athletes and this year has been no different, despite the difficult circumstances."
Fans will be able to join the cause until the end of February by making a $50 donation and submitting a picture for printing at castleton.edu/FansInTheStands. Vertical, headshot-style photos featuring one person are preferable. All net proceeds from the fundraiser directly benefit Castleton's men's and women's hockey programs.
