Castleton University is set to host its third International Film Festival on campus, put on by Communication Professor Michael Talbott. Featuring six Francophone films throughout the month of March, the Castleton International Film Festival aims to bring exciting films from around the globe to the Castleton-Rutland community.
Showings will take place on Tuesday and Thursday nights beginning on March 1. All the screenings will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Herrick Auditorium, with a question and answer session following the film, and are open to the public and free of charge.
Featured films include Girlhood on Tuesday, March 1, Timbuktu on Thursday, March 3, Two Days, One Night on Tuesday, March 8, Mood Indigo on Thursday, March 10, The Connection on Tuesday, March 15, and Le jour se lève on Thursday, March 17.
This year’s screenings are made possible by the Tournées Festival grant, administered by the FACE, French American Cultural Exchange, in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, which works to increase cultural awareness on college campuses.
“I attended a few of the films in the recent film festival on campus and really enjoyed them. It was such a treat to have our own little festival right here,” said local community member Betsy Birchenough, who attended films throughout last year’s festival. “There is nothing like seeing a great film in the company of others who enjoy the same thing.”
