Professor Andrea Corcoran will discuss her research on the impact of CBD on cardiovascular control. Both affecting receptors in the human body, one is endogenous, and one must be consumed. Professor Corcoran’s research on the homeostatic role of serotonin and how it relates to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) began by using clinical data and exploring physiological effects in animal models. Fast-forward several years, she is now researching the role of Cannabidiol (CBD) in individuals – Castleton University’s first clinical trial. This talk will explore how different approaches to scientific questions are valuable, the link between serotonin and SIDS, and the role of CBD on heart rate and blood pressure.
