If You Are a Close Contact of Someone Who Tested Positive for COVID-19

Close contact means being within 6 feet, for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period, of someone with COVID-19 during their infectious period.

Close contact means being within 6 feet, for a total of 15 minutes or more over a 24-hour period, of someone with COVID-19 during their infectious period.

Examples of close contact:

  • You live in the same home.
  • You are intimate partners.
  • You rode in the same car.
  • You had dinner together.

If you are a close contact or think you had close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19: please follow the CDC guidance for those exposed to COVID 19

  • It is recommended that you wear a high-quality mask for 10 days as soon as you learn that you were exposed and:
  • If you develop symptoms, test immediately
  • Get tested at least 5 full days after your last exposure, even if you don’t develop symptoms.

If you already had COVID-19 within the past 90 days, see specific testing recommendations.

If you test Negative:

Continue taking precautions through day 10

  • Wear a high-quality mask when around others at home and indoors in public
  • You can still develop COVID-19 up to 10 days after you have been exposed.

If You Test Positive

  • Isolate immediately
