As the Castleton College Admissions counselors take to the road for their annual fall recruiting, the department is pleased to announce the addition of three new faculty members, Nicole Adams, Hannah Corkery, and Raphael Okutoro, who will collaboratively resume the positions of Assistant Directors of Admissions.
A 2009 Castleton graduate Nicole Adams earned a degree in Sociology, concentration in Cultural Anthropology, and minor in Art. As a student, Nicole was a member of the Art Students’ League, Third-Place Committee, mentoring program, and the Women’s Ice Hockey and Lacrosse teams.
She returns to Castleton after coaching lacrosse at the collegiate level and completing her Master’s degree at Durham University in England, where she played lacrosse on the international level.
Her new position will include recruiting prospective high school students from various regions and assisting applicants through the admissions process.
“It’s my goal to bring the Castleton spirit with me to Northwest Vermont, New Jersey and all other states outside of New England and New York to share all that Castleton has to offer with future students,” said Adams.
Assistant women’s lacrosse coach, Hannah Corkery, will also serve as Assistant Director. Hannah joined the admissions office staff in the spring of 2013. After graduating from St. Lawrence University she has spent the past two years at Castleton as the graduate assistant for the women’s lacrosse team where she received a master’s degree in Education.
Raphael Okutoro is the final addition to the admissions team, as Assistant Director of Transfer Admissions.
A University of Vermont graduate, Raphael has been working in college admissions for more than nine years and is returning to Vermont after spending time living in New Hampshire.
His new role will allow him to work with prospective transfer students, schools and the Castleton admission department to strengthen existing communications and interactions.
“We are very excited about the new changes,” said Emily Wiezalis, Assistant Dean of Enrollment. “This will allow us to better engage with students and create new opportunities for us to grow.”
