Built around the dazzling performance of Krisha Fairchild as the titular character, Krisha is the story of a woman’s return to the family she abandoned years before, set entirely over the course of one turbulent Thanksgiving. The film was the winner of both the Grand Jury and Audience Awards at the 2015 South-by-Southwest Film Festival, and official selection of Critics’ Week at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival. Time’s Stephanie Zacharek writes, “Fairchild’s performance is key to the movie: Krisha is witty and chatty one moment, and shut down like a deserted fairground the next. We see dazzling warmth in her eyes, but also the terror of total system failure.”
