Cordis is a contemporary and progressive chamber music group originally from Boston. This group distinguishes their performance by delivering their music via a fusion of traditional, custom-made, and ethnic musical instruments. Their music is recognized to be easily appreciated by all types of audiences, which means one does not need a musical background to enjoy it. Their sounds are known to be eclectic, avant-garde and accessible 21st Century chamber music. Their signature sound is their brilliant achievement of expanding the boundaries of classical chamber music. This group of chamber music performers connect on stage with their audience via a mix of traditional classical instrument and non-traditional ones. In addition to the cello, the piano, percussion, there are a variety of drums, music box, and the electric cimbalom, they also blend instruments that are traditionally recognized for belonging to other genres of music, such as drums from Africa and Latin America. Their program includes playing with wood blocks and bells.
