The landscape of Vermont is a mix of farmland, forests and mountains, with an abundance of outdoor opportunities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, camping and fishing.

The Village of Castleton, located in Vermont’s scenic Lakes Region, is 12 miles west of Rutland, the state’s second largest city. Beyond Rutland are the Green Mountains and the best skiing and snowboarding in New England, where the lift lines are short and the season is long.

Castleton, along with greater state of Vermont, make for a beautiful location featuring various regional attractions, highlights and outdoor opportunities in all seasons.

Located just 15 minutes from campus is the picturesque Lake Bomoseen and Bomoseen State Park. The large lake provides various recreation accommodations including a public beach, marinas, a public boat launch and access to the state park, in addition to several restaurants and other commercial facilities located along the lakeside.

Also a short drive from campus is flourishing Downtown Rutland. Downtown Rutland provides visitors and residents alike with a rich mix of entertainment, shopping and dining in all seasons. With a fresh mixture of galleries, museums, and a year round farmers market, the downtown area offers an intriguing assortment of events throughout the year.

During the winter months Killington Mountain and Ski Resort and Pico Mountain Ski Area serve as the areas main snow covered attractions. Home to the best skiing and snowboarding in New England, they offering optimum winter sport trails, an outdoor tubing park, snowshoeing tracks, sleigh rides, and more. In the warmer months both locations similarly feature various hiking trails and other outdoor opportunities.

Ideal for those in search of more extravagant entertainment, larger cities, such as Burlington, Boston, Montréal and New York are also just a few hours from campus and easily accessible by bus or train.
