In 2013, Castleton bolstered its efforts to develop a more robust international student population on campus, by increasing its efforts to recruit and retain this cohort of students. For some time the university has recognized international students who learn in its classrooms enrich the community, both academically and culturally.
Because of the highly inter-dependent relationship between recruitment and retention, and because of the comprehensive nature of student services, the successful outcome of this reinvigorated international student initiative will depend on regular communication and coordination among all departments and offices at Castleton.
That is the charge of the International Student Coordination Group (ISCG). Through regular updates from different offices on the creation of new support services for international students and direct communication among offices, the ISCG is helping the university reach its goal of educating 125 international students every year.
