Castleton was recognized for its prestigious classifications, wide array of academic offerings, and affordability, as the University was recently named one of America’s Most Affordable Small Colleges by Best Value Schools, an online resource for aspiring college students who are seeking the best value in their college education.
Ranking number 85, the Best Small College’s list focuses on traditional four-year colleges, excluding community colleges, graduate schools and specialty institutions, with a student count of fewer than 4,000 students. Of the nearly 3,000 institutions of higher education nationwide, the 700 qualifying schools were ranked based on “net price” estimated by College Navigator.
The report touted Castleton's prestigious Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement and its ability to engage students in philanthropy, the arts and athletics.
Castleton was joined on the list by the two other four-year higher education institutions in the Vermont State College system, Johnson State College and Lyndon State College.
