To celebrate the season of giving, Castleton University is once again looking to top its donation record to the United Way of Rutland County. An annual tradition of more than 20 years, the contribution is just part of the university’s way of giving back to the local community.
In the last three years Castleton has made over $18,000 in contributions to help the 28 health and human service organizations serving the Rutland County residents. With civic mindedness and community service at the core of its mission, each year the university encourages all of its nearly 500 employees to give back.
“I think all of us are touched in some way by at least one of the many agencies supported by the United Way,” said Janet Hazelton, Castleton Director of Human Resources. “Through United Way, our donations contribute to the betterment of the community where we work and live.”
Castleton hopes that the 2015 season will bring together yet another successful giving year, with a $6,000 donation goal. In addition to their donated funds, Castleton also supports the United Way throughout the year but participating in its various programs including Meals on Wheels and local mentoring sessions.
