Castleton University will once again showcase its philanthropic spirit by participating in #GivingTuesday, the globally-celebrated day of giving with a mission of changing the way we think about, talk about, and participate in the giving season.
This year, #GivingTuesday is on Tuesday, November 27. Students plan to join in on the day by hosting a variety of clothing, food, and toiletry drives.
Due to the critically low stocks at local food shelves, the Student Government Association will extend their giving back over four days. The group will be accepting donations of non-perishable food and hygiene items, as well as coats, boots, and cold weather gear from November 27 through November 30 in the Campus Center and Glenbrook Gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. SGA will award funds to the student clubs with the highest level of participation.
Castleton's student-athletes will be collecting cold weather gear, including hats, scarves, and gloves/mittens in Glenbrook Gymnasium from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on November 27.
This year, the university is looking to build on the success of previous giving days through the generosity of the Castleton community. With a focus on "Giving Green," the university hopes to bring alumni, parents, faculty and staff, and friends together with the goal of garnering a record-breaking 200 gifts on a single day.
Castleton is honored to participate in #GivingTuesday on-campus, in the community, and through social media to showcase the spirit of giving that runs so deeply. For more information, visit castleton.edu/givingtuesday.
