This course was developed specifically, for completers of a licensure program leading to an endorsement other than Director of Curriculum who would like to add that endorsement to their current licensure. It is also appropriate for teacher leaders and administrators seeking to increase their understanding of skills and dispositions necessary to assure that curriculum, instruction, and assessments are guaranteed, viable, and aligned to standards/proficiencies.
Participants will gain an in-depth knowledge of rigorous curriculum design, brain-based instructional practices, and comprehensive assessment. In addition, participants in this course will learn skills and content that will build their capacity to lead, develop, administer, and evaluate programs that provide equitable access for all students.
Participants will identify critical issues of characteristics of the current curricular programming in their Supervisory Union.
Participants will demonstrate knowledge of the elements of a curriculum that is guaranteed, viable, and aligned to standards/proficiencies.
Participants will understand the impacts of the requirements of Act 173 and its impact on general education instruction and assessment processes.
Participants will learn skills and content to lead, develop, administer, and evaluate the development of curricular resources.
Skyler LaBombard, M.A. Skyler is an educational leader with a passion for leading instructional improvement, equitable access to learning, educational technology, and data-based decision-making. He currently serves as the Director of Teaching & Learning at Bennington-Rutland Supervisory Union. He has also worked as Principal of Sunderland Elementary School and as a classroom teacher in grades 2 through 6. He has a BA from Plattsburgh State University, an MA from the College of St. Joseph, and a CAGS in Advanced Educational Leadership from the University of New England.
