Claiming Outside Scholarships
Outside Scholarship, Grant, Tuition Remission or Any Form of Assistance Information
Following federal guidelines, the Financial Aid Office is required to take all financial resources into account when determining your eligibility for financial aid. If you receive an outside scholarship, grant, tuition remission or any form of assistance you must notify the Financial Aid Office in writing of this resource. Please notify Financial Aid in writing as soon as you are informed of this assistance and include any relevant documentation. We will make every attempt to reduce your student loans and Federal Work-Study before adjusting any federal or institutional grant aid. Once notified, we will make an adjustment to your financial aid and send you a revised notification via email.
Please send scholarship, grant, tuition remission, or any form of assistance checks and award letters to:

Please include the following information:
- Student's Name
- Student's ID Number
- Scholarship or grant name
- Sponsoring Organization
- Term- Fall, Spring or both
- Please send a copy of any attachments (i.e: letters, instructions, etc.)
If the scholarship or grant check is made payable to both you and Castleton, you must endorse the back of the check, just as your name appears on the front of the check.
If the scholarship or grant check is made payable to you, then you must endorse the back of the check, just as your name appears on the front of the check and make it payable to Castleton University.
Do not deposit scholarship checks into personal bank accounts.
Note: Outside scholarships, grant, tuition remission or any form of assistance may reduce financial aid eligibility.
