Education (MA) Admissions Requirements

As a graduate student at Castleton, you will experience the same transformative, relationship-based education that is the hallmark of the Castleton experience.

The Master of Arts in Education program maintains a dedication to excellence in teaching and close student-faculty interaction. Castleton’s mission is to cultivate the knowledge, competence and preparation you need as an emerging professional in your field.

Your application will be complete when the Admissions Office has received the following:

__ A completed application and the $40 application fee. The application fee is non-refundable and may be mailed to the Admissions Office in the form of a check or money order payable to Castleton University.

__ A candidate's statement (for all programs, no more than two single spaced pages) addressing the following :

  1. What are your personal and professional goals and how will earning an advanced degree support them?
  2. What do you hope to learn during your graduate studies?
  3. What contributions will your presence bring to Castleton’s graduate program?

__ A current résumé.

__ Two current letters of recommendation from an advisor, employer, or faculty addressing the applicant’s scholarship and potential to be an exemplary teacher and/or educational leader. Your letters of recommendation must come directly from the persons providing the recommendations and can be submitted to: info@castleton.edu.

__ Official final transcripts of undergraduate and graduate work directly from the issuing institution to the Castleton Admissions Office. Transcripts within the Vermont State College system from 2003 forward can be obtained by the Castleton Admissions Office.

__If you have a teaching license, please submit a photocopy.

*Candidates pursing the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership will be contacted for an interview after all application materials have been submitted.
