Health and Wellness
The Castleton Wellness Center provides health, counseling, wellness education, and violence prevention and advocacy services free of charge to all Castleton students. Students receiving counseling services are asked to notify the Wellness Center senior Staff Assistant 24 hours in advance of canceling or rescheduling appointments.
The Wellness Center is located on the second floor of the Campus Center. Hours are Monday through Thursday, 9 am to 4 pm. If you have a health issue during those hours, call (802) 468-1346 or go to the Wellness Center. On nights and weekends, contact public safety at (802) 468-1215 for assistance with health issues. The Castleton Family Health Center, (802) 468-5641, offers express care appointments on Saturdays and Sundays and on some evenings to 7 days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
All matriculated students taking six or more credits are required to have a completed health form including an up-to-date immunization record on file in the Wellness Center.
When circumstances arise so that a student’s physical or mental health condition requires services beyond the normal and reasonable scope of the University's capabilities, or when a student’s health status is deemed by the Dean of Students to present a serious threat to the welfare of the student and/or members of the University community, the student may be required to temporarily leave the University pending resolution of his or her condition. See related Mandatory Leave policy. The Dean of Students shall act on the basis of reliable information obtained from appropriate professional sources.
All medical records are maintained in the Wellness Center and no one except the Wellness Center staff has access to records without the student's authorization.
